3/21/2008 - From Heavens, Polo Montanez’s New Disc Release
Batlle Artistic Productions, Inc. announces the release of Desde El Cielo, Guajiro Natural, a collection of songs never released before by Cuban singer, and composer Polo Montañez (Fernando Borrego Linares), one of the most charismatic protagonists of the Cuban popular music of recent times.Desde El Cielo, Guajiro Natural literary means: from Heaven, the Natural Countryman, nickname given to him because of his humble personality and songs about the peasant life in Cuba.
He began his musical career in 1999. In less than a year he topped the hit-lists of the Cuban radio with the song “Un Montón de Estrellas”, from his first album, Guajiro Natural. Polo's music could not be classified in the traditional music sense; but his soulful and expressive voice as well as being a profound poet, has made him a musical phenomenon. His music transcended from Cuba to Colombia to the rest of Latin America and on to Western Europe. His rise to stardom ended on November 26th , 2002, when at the age of 47 he died of in a car accident in Pinar del Río, a province in Cuba.
This disc includes the songs “La Mujer Que Quiero”, “De Tanto Rodar”, “La Vieja”, “Historia-1” and “Historia-2”, “De Guajiro a Rumbero”, “O Te Quedas o Te Vas” and “Juana y Miguel”. All available for licensing both masters and publishing from Sunflower Entertainment Co. Inc.

Sunflower Entertainment signed an exclusive worldwide agreement with New York and Dominican Republic based record label Jeremy Records' recording artist, Vakero, the #1 Dominican Hip Hop artist and leader of the Rap Dominicano movement. The deal encompasses all of Vakero's Recordings, Publishing, Digital/Mobile Marketing and Merchandising. "Vakero is the real deal. A global star in the making," said Jamar Chess, co-owner of Sunflower Entertainment, who was responsible for the copletion of the deal.

8/7/2007 - Flautists Extrodinaire Andrea Brachfeld Signs with Sunflower
Andrea Brachfeld, one of the only female flautist in New York Latin music scene has signed to Sunflower Entertainment for representation of her masters and publishing.
Over the years Andrea has performed with Tpica New York (1972-74), Benito Sextet (1974-75), Charanga 76 (1976-78), and Joe Quijano. During the time periods when the bands were not working, she freelanced with Charanga Amrica, Tito Puente, Orquesta Sublime, Orquesta Broadway, Tpica Novel, Johnny Pacheco, Siglo 20 and Machito.
Her album, “Andrea” released on Latina Records in 1978, made her a star in the New York salsa scene.
In 1981, Andrea moved to Venezuela. where she became a major star in the same strata as Tito Puente and Cachao. She returned to the States in the early 90’s, raised a family and formed the band Phoenix Rising.
Since then she has recorded three records “Andrea Brachfeld’, “Phoenix Rising”, and “Beyond Standards” with Chembo Corniel, Hilton Ruiz Steve Turre and Pedro Martinez.

The premier female flutist in the New York City salsa scene, Andrea Brachfeld is regarded as one of the most respected performers in her genre. In 1978 she was deemed as the one of the most popular flute players by Latin New York Magazine.This is without a doubt a true statement after performing with many great musicians such as Joe Quijano, Orquesta Sublime, and Tito Puente, among many others. The album, Andrea, catpulted Andrea into the upper strata of Salsa players. In 1981, Andrea's sensuous features and Cuban flute sound blew the fuses of a Venezuelan millionaire's mind and resulted in an offer to relocate to Venezuela. Stories about her flooded the newspapers and she became as well known as Tito Puente and Cachao throughout South America. And now Andrea is back in the States ready to recapture her audience. 1/2/2007 - Rafael Escalona receives a Latin Grammy Life Acheivement Award
Edimusica/Discos Fuentes/Sunflower Entertainment writer Rafeal Escalona received a Latin Grammy Lifetime Acheivement Award at the Latin Grammys held in New York City this fall.
Juan Carlos Barguil from our offices was there representing us with his best behavior.
Rafael Escalona is known for being one of the most prominent vallenato music composers in the world. He is also a close friend of Gabriel García Márquez, who included him in his stories and once told him that his own master piece novel, "100 years of solitude" was just a 350 page Vallenato Escalona's songs compilate the history and stories of the Magdalena Department of the past. Escalona is an athypical music composer, he does not sing or play any instruments. His songs constitute a legacy of a past generation of Colombians in his memory, a pictorial collage, full of grace, that narrates stories, customs and gossips from his region. He also leaves a legacy of his loves and pains, humor and poetry. In 1991 Caracol TV produced a television series named, after the vallenato legend.

1/2/2007 - BACHATA CON SENTIDO JOINS THE SUNFLOWER FAMILY
The catchy romantic bachata band, from the Dominican Republic, Bachata Con Sentido, has signed a publishing and masters agreement with Sunflower Entertainment. The group was discovered by Dominican radio personality, Anthony Diaz,on a trip from New York to Atlantic City. Under the musical direction of Alberto Plata, “Si La Ven”, became the first single. The song jump started their careers in their native land of the Dominican Republic . Neury Luciano es un joven cantautor dominicano que se lanza al mundo discográfico con su primera producción "El mundo gira". Es un disco cargado de mucha energía en donde el cantautor logró combinar perfectamente el ritmo con la lírica, es decir que es un álbum que se puede bailar y escuchar. Neury, nacido en San Juan de la Maguana, República Dominicana, a temprana edad viajó con su madre para Venezuela, donde realizó sus estudios secundarios y universitarios, alternándolos con la música. 5/22/2006 - Joe Arroyo "Grandes Exitos" on Chicago Tirb’s Best Latin albums list
The great Latin music reporter Ernesto Lechtner wrote an article for the Chicago Tribune where he names Joe Arroyo's album "Grandes Exitos" (Joe Arroyo's Greatest Hits released on Discos Fuentes in 1999) one of the top 20 Latin albums to own and is required listening for anyone interested in Latin music.
To quote from the article "Arroyo has experimented with a plethora of styles, including Nuyorican salsa, Cuban son, African soukous and Caribbean soca. His music is meant for dancing, but there is infinite heartache and nostalgia beneath his voice's fiery swing. This compilation barely skims his prodigious output."
